From ironing man to ironman. As featured in today's Retail Week, on the 19th May Envision Retail Director Jason Kemp will be undertaking a considerable physical challenge, with which he hopes to raise much needed funds for two important charities.
The Lanzarote Ironman is the event, consisting of a 3.8Km (2.4 miles) sea swim, 180Km (112 miles) cycle and finishing with a full marathon, all which must be completed within 17 hours. If that is not enough, the Lanzarote Ironman is believed to be the toughest in the world as a result of the heat, wind and amount of vertical elevation that competitors face whilst out on the course.
The first charity that Jason is supporting is Macmillan Cancer Support (www.macmillanorg.uk), who provide medical, emotional and financial support for those affected by cancer.
His second charity is the Retail Trust (www.retailtrust.org), who provide much needed support and care for those who are or have worked in retail at a time in their lives when it can make a real difference.
Anybody wishing to support Jason with a donation can do so by sending pledges to ironman@envisionretail.com.
All donations of any size are gratefully received. But for those pledging in excess £1 per mile (£141 total) Jason will give you the opportunity to estimate his finishing time. For the donor who guesses closest to his actual finishing time there will be a prize of £250 of Red Letter Day vouchers to enable the winner to pick an experience for themselves or their family.
Thank you for your time and support.
